Not on your life!

He crashed one in Dubai, and that was the end of his piloting career!

We went and put up a couple of leopard baits.

Maktoum shot a warhog.

We put the usual bones by the camp, and all hell broke loose!

Dozens of crocs and hyenas were fighting over them all night!

In fact, I can hear them at it right now.

There seems to be relatively little tse tse flies this year.

May we know about the old cartridge casings?

We were walking down a valley, when suddenly a young leopard jumps from a hole in the ground and rus off, a few yards from us.

Wewent to ave a look, and found hat he had killed a young warthog in its burrow and was just about to eat it!

We put a trail camera n the kill, and continued our walk.

These are bullets we recovered from an eland and buffalo.

We had a bit of a laugh yesterday after I shot the two buffalo.

Using a 375/404, two rounds, two bufalo droped in their racks.

Somone said "that is the way to do it"

Great to see the elephant!

The photos are unreal- some of the best I've ever seen of Africa.

Saeed, I've hunted this block and by chance did you see the large washed out area of petrified wood by the side of the road from the airstrip to camp? If not, I bet the Vincents or someone else familiar with the block knows about this spot.

Thank you again for letting us tag along and for such a terrific photographic show of the Selous.

Do water bucks shed horns yearly?

Seems like you showed that one horned buck a previous year is why I ask.

Thanks for answering.

Enjoy a great hunt, we sure are just reading and seeing it here.

Same question Robin asked: what are the rusted out shell casings Alan is holding? Poachers or just target practice? Also, why don’t Alan and Roy have a 4 ton winch on their trucks? Manhandling a 1200 lb Eland or a 1500 lb buff gets old fast. You can get a quality Warn Winch for $500 US and save a lot of time and sweat.

Interesting to see so many old cases & reminds me the SGR holds MANY secrets.

This message from a good friend & fine man who knew the SGR when it was at it's finest.

"Hello Steve, I was following events on Saeeds hunt in South Selous today and see they found a lot of WW1 German 8mm and British .303 cases on the ground during the course of wandering around. During my days in Selous I found gun emplacements for Cannons MG and Trenches as well as Shell casing from German light Moumtain howitzer 75mm and lots of old brass from both sides.

On a lion hunt guding an Austrian hunter in 1990 on Ruaha river I found a Tobaco holder made from 2 Mauser 11mm black powder shells very nicely sliding together slightly buried in ground where I was lying in our crude blind. On main Rufiji I found old camp sites, old pots and pans, and other odds and ends in half filled old trenches. The Brits and Germans fought all down the Luwgu river as Germans looped around and headed south. Some wild war time events took place in Selous."
