I watched the auction online and Donald Trump Jr. is worth his weight in gold. $ 200K for one rifle and $ 170K for a 7 day yacht based Alaska mountain goat hunt with Don Jr. He threw in a weekend at Mar-Logo with the deal but holy s*** that's a lot of money!

I watched the auction last night also, and the bidding at times was moving along.

Don Jr. did a wonderful job and had the attendees attention. His add on was unexpected and both items brought in money that will go to useful projects. (that is my anticipation anyway)

I did bid on a couple items, however some one else was the successful bidder.

He probably needs to sign the check, out in the car on the glovebox with a pencil.

If you don't know the reference, it's from the Blues Brothers.

According to today's SCI news, the rifle sold for $290K.

This from Laird Hamberlin himself: "Don’t take my word for it, though – the numbers speak for themselves:

More paid attendees than our last two conventions COMBINED
Over $15 million raised for our mission of being First for Hunters
Our highest auction item was the John Bolliger Rifle which went for $290,000 – a new record for a modern bolt-action rifle at auction for SCI. . ."

It was fun to watch the Friday nite auctions of for both the rifle and the hunt with Don Jr. - whenever the bidding started to stall, Don Jr jumped in, sweetened the pot and boom! off the races again :-)

I'd say his "interruptions" netted SCI another 50k - 75k that nite on just those two items combined!

Great speaker and true hunting advocate - and he wasn't afraid to poke fun at Dad's social media skills!

SCI promised us after the shitshow that was Reno for two years, that they would turn the show around. They did. I do not know about the feet that went through there, but it is the best SCI for Infinito Safaris, ever! People were serious and booked hunts. Cannot say the same about DSC this year. I wish they can move that show a week or so later.......Thanks for all the AR folks stopping by to say. Always good to put a face to a name!

Charl, I stopped by your booth and spoke with a lovely young woman, and a young man, who seemed to be a PH, about your M'barangandu concession.

I know that area well, or I should say, I know the area north of the Selous boundary, bordering your area. It was one of the Pasanisi family's concessions, and it was fantastic, back in the day.

Thousands of buffalo, and huge elephant.

Some day again, and soon, I hope, we will return.

Glad you had good business, and sorry we didn't meet.

What was the Friday rifle??
It is not showing up on the Online Auction Site for any of the evening auctions.
I have followed the John Bolliger 50th Saturdsy night Rifle... and Colt 1911. SPECTACULAR!!

Glad I already own a Bolliger custom!! I plan to shoot a Buff with it either in the Selous or Uganda!!

Don is a mega no-bullshit hard hunter. He’s got some interesting stories from before anyone knew who he was.

That was likely Charl's brother in law, Gawie and his American fiance Megan. Sorry I missed meeting you Mike!

Gawie is good people.

I am hoping I can still figure out how to hunt with him in TZ in a couple of years.
