For more than 60 years, F_MU1 lived a full life in a quiet corner of Tsavo National Park in Kenya. These are amongst the last images captured of her by wildlife photographer Will Burrard-Lucas.
She died peacefully in 2017, surrounded by her family.
The same year, poachers killed a tusker named Satao II, also at Tsavo National Park. Don't Google, unless you want to have nightmares for days.
Satao II was nearly 50 years old; one of his tusks weighed 114 lbs. (51.5 kg.) and the other weighed 111 lbs. (50.5 kg).
My 11 year old and 12 year old once weighed as much as those tusks.
To date, less than 20 tuskers remain in the wild worldwide.
Savo National Park is 16,000 square miles (42,000 sq km) in size.
To put this in perspective, the park is about the size of the states of Massachusetts, Delaware, and Rhode Island combined or the country of the Netherlands ...

See link to blog of the photographer, advertising his book released today,
after the
lol below.

Says author:

'These photographs are featured in my new book, “Land of Giants” which also includes several of Tsavo’s other iconic tuskers. Land of Giants will be released on 20th March and is available to pre-order from WildlifePhoto.com and Amazon UK. You can find out more about the book at:'

If you are bored with this repeat posting on this freakish cow elephant,
and want some real excitement,
come on over to the Big Bore forum and get disillusioned of the notion that the SAAMI-chambered .458 Lott can beat a SAAMI-chambered .458 Winchester Magnum if both are used in the same length action and loaded to the same pressure.
THE MISSION needs your support!

Thanks to Todd for his many rings of THE MISSION bell, of the Church of the Dead Horse. horse

Seen a number of posts about this old girl, but none of them give the weight of her ivory.

In 2012 I saw a cow elephant in the Valley that looked very much like this. Tusks almost touching the ground. Did not get a photo. Buzz or maybe it was Justin have seen her twice I think.

Good hunting
