Just curious. I turned in paperwork about 3 months prior to my trip to Tanzania and have not received permit. Not a big deal yet since my trophies won’t be here for a few more months. I checked FWS.gov website and the “importing your elephant and leopard trophy” link does not work. I will make a couple of phone calls tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

Not quite the same but I needed USFWS to issue a Cites permit for a Blackbuck I shot in Texas in January to ship to New Zealand. The forwarding folks in California I used told me the standard wait was 90 days from USFWS. That turned out to be exactly right.

I think it took about two months for mine to get back to me.

I will say I used the "old" form. The new form asks more questions, I believe, asking for you to justify taking the cat. Might take longer for the newer form to get processed.

I'm over 4 months now. I asked about my check not being cashed and did not receive a reply. Within 3 days my check was cashed.

This year a lot of time was lost owing to the federal government shut down.

I mailed my check in June. Cashed in Jul. Permit issued Dec 21; thought it was lost in mail, but strongly suspected it never went out before shutdown. Received a week after shutdown ended.

Did you submit application yourself or use a service to handle the application? If you used a service, which service. Thanks

autofire,

My logistics person has assisted with many leopard CITES import permits. She will help you for a small fee. Would you like her contact info?

The application form is so simple, I can't imagine hiring it out.

By the time you tell someone the answers, you could have filled it out yourself.

Most recent cat permit application was sent in August 23, 2019 and got the import permit back November 5th.

They did call me a few weeks ago to confirm the PH really did spell his name that way! Lol!

I’m hunting leopard in April, sounds like I should get my application in pretty soon.
