Hi guys. I've got a Robinson M96 that a friend gave up on and turned over to me. The problem is that the barrel comes unlocked and starts to come out whenever it is fired. Anybody have any experience with these and have some ideas for me? It's definitely a cool little rifle and I'd love to get it working. Thanks.

As you know the Robinson is a copy of the Stoner 63, modular design, quick change barrel. It is held in place by a detent on the bottom in front of the mag well. I suspect that either your spring is weak, or the pin is worn. They aren't known for tight barrels. Check the spring first; it keeps the barrel detent pin lever, in place.

The problem is definitely the spring. Anybody have an idea where I might find a replacement? Robinson has been unresponsive to this point.

Brown sells spring stock; buy one with the same size coils and cut off what you need.
