Refinishing wood

Over the weekend I bought a Winchester model 101 skeet, three barrel set 410/28/20 for an unbelievable price. A frind of mine who knows shotguns better than I told me the metal is 95%, but the wood is probably 80 to 85%, with the stock being the worst. Not horrible, but with some honest wear, Surface scatches and some small dents.

My question is should I have the wood refinished, or will this reduce the value of the gun? I don't plan on getting rid of it, but I don't want to ruin it either..Thanks
