Leaf camo for RSA
Can you recommend a net leaf camo top for use in South Africa?

I'm hoping to get across for my first bowhunt next month and am getting the final bits and pieces together now...

Thanks in advance.

Boggy,

It will depend where you are hunting and how. As you know the terrain varies dramatically.

Have you seen the digital DPM? I think it is the Sitka kit. It just makes you disappear in quite a spectacular fashion.

You might consider wearing the same outfit your PH does. The trackers, etc will probably be wearing dark blue or green overalls...

Sharpshooter - on a bowhunt, the PH would let you go in alone for the final stalk. I think it might be difficult for two chaps in blue overalls to follow me within 15m of an impala!

Bog, what now are you using? I just bought my first now and will be taking it to RSA this year.

Most of the guys down there use the Sniper pattern. It is made in SA and so it comes In cheap for them.

I have a matthews and a parker. I'm not too hot on model names. I'll just do a couple days of walk/stalk culling with the bow before trying for an eland with a rifle so think some leaf camo could be useful.

I hunted in SA last July, but from water hole blinds. I wore the camo I use for white tails, but camo was not really needed. I don't think the specific pattern of camo will make a lot of difference in a SA stalk hunt.
Good luck.

As a keen bowhunter who prefers walk and stalk, you will definitely need camo. I suggest you google sniper and email them. I'm sure your leafy top could be posted to your PH. It will work out cheaper that way. The sniper leafy is quite dark but the bush will be green when you are hunting.
Good luck!

Buy the Sniper Ghilly and then thin it down if its too heavy for you. It will cost US 150 plus shipping. They work well.
I use a 2 XL as it breaks up my shape more than the L.
I am 180cm 90kg and can fit in both suits.

If you want more info or some pics let me know

Cheers

Poachers wear them. Besides, Impala are color blind, aren't they?

Trees all over Africa are tan colored (it's called bark) from ground level to a couple feet high, then they are green (that's called leaves/foliage).

Logic says wear tan slacks/shorts, and green shirts. Every PH I have hunted in Africa with in Zim/RSA was dressed like that.

I bow hunt with ASAT leaf camo.

Works great for mid winter and hunting from tree stands.

I've used an ASAT leafy suit in SA, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique and BRitish Columbia - never let me down yet.

Idaho makes a point. I don't wear camouflage in Africa. I do like to change the color from pants to shirt just to break up the form. Dark khaki or olive pants and a lighter green shirt. TAG calls it "Forrest".

I always wore camo when I sat the blind! LOL
Seemed pointless but that's what I took so that's what I wore.
Sorry, not much help from me.
